Nationality and Study Plan
MEXT scholarships are primarily intended for international students who wish to pursue undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degrees in Japan. Applicants must be citizens of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan and is eligible for MEXT scholarships.
The primary purpose of the MEXT scholarship is to foster global understanding and cooperation. As such, applicants should clearly outline their study plans and research goals and demonstrate how their studies in Japan will contribute to their home country’s development.
Note: Some countries may have specific quotas or restrictions on the number of scholarships available.
